Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Tax Accountant to join our team at our Silver Spring, MD location. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with a keen interest in the field of tax accounting. While prior accounting or payroll experience is preferred, we are willing to provide training to the right candidate. The successful candidate will possess excellent computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, and a background in finance is desirable. Strong customer service skills, exceptional communication, and interpersonal abilities are essential for this role. This position involves working in a fast-paced office environment, so self-motivation and the ability to thrive under pressure are crucial. The candidate should be comfortable with the demands of the tax season, including the possibility of working extended hours.
Responsibilities:
Assist senior tax accountants with preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals and businesses.
Organize and maintain financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and accurate documentation.
Utilize computer software and Microsoft Office Suite to perform tasks and generate reports.
Learn and apply tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and up-to-date tax filings.
Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to tax accounting.
Contribute positively to the office culture, displaying great interpersonal skills and a welcoming personality.
Qualifications:
Quick learner with a strong desire to excel in tax accounting.
Prior experience in accounting or payroll is preferred, but we are open to training the right candidate.
Proficiency with computer applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
Background in finance or related field is desirable.
Excellent customer service experience and strong communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment.
Self-motivated and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Willingness to work extended hours during the tax season.
Exceptional people skills and a friendly, approachable personality.
